St. Dismas Prison Ministry Society will glorify God, changing lives and healing communities by creating and facilitating a model of prisoner reintegration & aftercare through intervention, education, prevention and continuity of care
,Based on the call of our Lord Jesus Christ in Matthew 25:34-40, our mission statement expresses the essence of and reason for the existence of the St. Dismas Prison Ministry Society..
By helping prisoners to change their outlook and attitude towards life while in prison the St. Dismas Prison Ministry Society will assist and support them as they reintegrate back into the community and become faithful, loving and contributing members of society.
St. Dismas Prison Ministry Society’s vision will be accomplished by working with inmates in the institution as well as in the community upon release, developing and facilitating programs, services and supports, educating the community, training volunteers and cooperating with other agencies to facilitate successful prisoner aftercare and reintegration into the community.
We believe in one God, the Father Almighty,
Creator of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible.
We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, only Begotten Son of God, born of the Father before all ages,
God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, of consubstantial with the Father.
Through him all things were made.
For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven;
by the power of the Holy Spirit he became incarnate with the Virgin Mary, and became man.
For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered death was buried and rose again on the third day in accordance with the scriptures; he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and His kingdom will have no end.
We believe in the Holy Spirit,
The Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets.
We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic church.
We acknowledge one Baptism for the forgiveness of sins.
We look forward the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come.
